Large Format
Street Photography
I took a large format Sinar camera, typically reserved for controlled studio shoots, into the streets at night.
Using handheld flash and slide film, I captured spontaneous portraits in a snapshot style, but on one of the largest professional film formats available.
It was an unconventional setup in every way, and I unknowingly experienced zone focusing for the first time, manually gauging distance and light while carrying the 8–10 kg Sinar by hand through the streets.
The result was a raw, technical, and completely out-of-place approach to street photography, which, at least to me, made it all the more interesting.
